Our story
In the fall of 2023, we, Andrea Marco Nauli and Renate Bacher (a couple), stumbled upon an online advertisement for a "director's villa" for sale in southern Sweden. Intrigued, we contacted the real estate agency. Three weeks later, on a Sunday, an official viewing appointment was arranged especially for us. This gave us the opportunity to explore the surroundings, the property itself, and also the Swedish real estate sales system. Despite our best efforts, the initial visit was unfortunately unsuccessful, primarily because the bidding system didn't appeal to us. Constantly receiving offers via text message from "anonymous" bidders and having to match them with a higher, new bid was definitely not for us.
Nevertheless, the goal of acquiring our own property remained our primary focus. Just three weeks later, a series of viewings of five properties took us back to southern Sweden. And lo and behold, we found what we were looking for. In the end, we fell in love with a sprawling, well-maintained villa over 150 years old (400 square meters of living space, 2500 square meters of garden) in a small village called Näsum, just a few minutes from the largest lake in southern Sweden (Ivosjön) and 15 minutes from the Baltic Sea.
The villa was formerly a bakery/confectionery, later a cinema was added and later it became the district headquarters of the Scout movement.
We acquired the property in January 2024 from the extremely warm-hearted artist couple, Troels Kirk and Anne Ekholm Kirk, who had lived there for over 16 years, renovated extensively, and converted the cinema hall into a painting studio/gallery for Troels' artwork/exhibitions, and Anne's bandoneon art was given a great stage for performances.
Renate and I, Andrea Marco, immediately began making arrangements for a partial move of our belongings to our new holiday home in southern Sweden. Since then, we have been renovating and modernizing our house step by step.
In the fall of 2024, two new properties were added to our portfolio. We were actually just looking for a house in typical Swedish style and color. Surprisingly, we found two buildings of different types. One was older and "typically Swedish," while the other, although also in classic Swedish colors on the outside, was originally a carriage-building workshop. Later, it was converted into a photo studio/guesthouse. These two properties are located in Mörrum/Elleholm, about one kilometer from the Baltic Sea. Both properties have ample surrounding land, and the sea is within easy walking distance.
